Central Penn College
Longtime collaborations with
Messiah University were formalized
with a partnership in early 2023.
The partnership will facilitate
collaboration on the training and
development of the next generation
of certi昀椀ed nursing assistants,
allowing Messiah University students
to serve, garner professional
experiences in a long-term care
setting, and gain an understanding
of ministry in the aging population.
It will also provide continuing
education opportunities for Messiah
Lifeways employees, and we will
work together on mutually bene昀椀cial
opportunities for research that
advances evidence-based practice.
A partnership was also established with
Central Penn College, which will provide
employees, beginning with those who
work in memory care neighborhoods,
with continued dementia education. With
the help of grant funding and generous
donors, the training sessions touch on
topics such as the types of dementia,
communication strategies, understanding
repetitive behaviors and expressions,
cultural competency, and end-of-life care.
Messiah Lifeways plans to expand these
training sessions to all new hires and
current team members in the future, to
ensure that they’re living their mission of
serving older adults with Christ-like love
across the community, and throughout
residents’ varying levels of need.
