Memorial Tribute to...
Bobby Clark
December 1, 1949 - August 17, 2023
Pastor Bobby L. Clark was born in Sandersville, Georgia, on December l, 1949, to the
parentage of the late John Henry and Ophelia Clark. A native of Macon, Georgia, he
matriculated through the Bibb County
School System. After graduating from Peter G. Appling High School in 1968, Pastor
Clark earned a certificate in Sales and Marketing from Central Georgia Tech. Even
before he found his true calling, Pastor Clark always had the heart of a servant and
was a proud member of the United States Army for three years. He also served the
city of Macon as a police officer for eight years.
However, the Lord had a higher calling for Pastor Bobby Clark, and what he thought
was a one-time favor for Reverend Ronald Terry turned into a storied career wherein
Pastor Clark would go on to share the goodness of Christ over the airways for over
47 years. Dubbed the “Happy Man” because of his upbeat personality and genuine
love for Christ and gospel music, Pastor Clark preached, prayed, and praised God
over the airways so that all who heard his voice were witnesses to God’s goodness.
During his career, Pastor Clark worked for WIBB for much of his early career before
becoming a station owner at WXKO in Fort Valley. In June of 2022, Pastor Clark
was recognized as a Legendary Gospel Announcer and received an award at the
State Capital. Unable to leave his radio days behind him, Pastor Clark came out of
retirement and was employed by Macon Radio Alliance as a part-time gospel radio
announcer for Praise 99.5FM. You could hear him on Saturday Mornings, from 9
AM to 12 Noon, on “Praise Bobby Clark Show.”
In 1979, Pastor Clark was licensed as a Deacon by Reverend Ronald Terry, Sr., at New
Fellowship Baptist Church, where he continued to grow in his faith. He received
the call to preach and delivered his initial sermon on December 26, 2004, and was
ordained in March 2005 by Pastor Eddie D. Smith, Sr. at Macedonia Baptist Church.
He later served as the Associate Pastor at Greater Rising Star Church, Reverend
Charles Jones. On August 3, 2014, Pastor Clark opened the doors to Kingdom
Building Ministries of Macon.
Even while hosting his radio show and serving in the church, Pastor Clark made
time to serve the community. On November 4, 2008, he was assigned to a fouryear term to the “Police and Firefighter Disciplinary Hearing Boards” of the City of
Macon by Macon’s Mayor Robert Reichert.
