Message from Sheriff David Davis
I’m Bibb County Sheriff David Davis and in the information below you’ll 昀椀nd a list of
almost 30 programs coordinated through the Sheriff’s Of昀椀ce for your personal safety, as
well as the safety of your home, business and community. More than half of these deterrent,
guidance and character building programs are geared towards steering and keeping our
youth out of trouble and on the track to success.
Behind our badges you’ll not only 昀椀nd caring and compassionate people, you’ll also 昀椀nd
a host of ways to connect with us to help keep your community safe, protect your loved ones,
and connect with young people.
YOUTH OUTREACH
& INTERVENTION
• Police Athletic/Activities League
works to prevent juvenile crime and violence by building the bond between
cops and kids.
• Explorers Program is open to young
men and women ages 14 and not yet
21 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in the 昀椀eld of
law enforcement.
• Consider the Consequences gives troubled children aged 10 to 16 a real life
jail experience in an effort to steer
them in the right direction.
YOUTH EDUCATION
• C.H.A.M.P.S. is an educational program taught to 5th and 6th grade
students of Bibb County public and
private schools by trained deputies.
• Defensive Driving Course Alive at 25®
is a highly interactive program that
teaches young adults under age 25
how to make safe, respectful and legal driving decisions.
• Eddie Eagle Gun Safe Program teaches children in pre-K through 3rd grade
four important steps to take if they
昀椀nd a gun. These steps are presented
by the program’s mascot, Eddie Eagle, in an easy-to-remember format.
• McGruff, the Crime Dog teaches children about ways they can ensure their
personal safety and security.
ADULT EDUCATION
• Project Child Safe is a program that
promotes 昀椀rearm safety & education.
• Citizens Firearms Class is an eight-hour
class taught over two days and offers
the opportunity to become familiar
with the 昀椀rearms you own or may be
purchasing in the future.
• Citizens on Patrol This program consists of residents who patrol within
Macon-Bibb in an effort to reduce
crime in their communities.
• Citizen’s Academy gives insight into
the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s Of昀椀ce, such as traf昀椀c stops, arrest
procedures, processing a crime scene
and operations of the jail.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION/SAFETY
• Gang Awareness This program informs parents, teachers, and community organizations on what to look for
in our children that may indicate their
inclination to join gangs.
• Church Safety and Security is a comprehensive study to 昀椀nd security risks
within churches.
• Active Shooter Training This program
offers preparedness by providing
products, tools, and resources to respond to an active shooter incident.
• Child Safety Seat Check Program This
program helps you choose and use
the right car seat correctly every time
your child is in the car.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
& PARTNERSHIPS
• Bondable Pups The $100 adoption
fee for a Bibb County Sheriff’s Of昀椀ce
Bondable Pup includes all vaccinations, heartworm testing and spay/
neuter procedures. The Bondable
Pups are housed and trained at the
Bibb County Sheriff’s Of昀椀ce and are
available to see by appointment.
• Macon Regional Crimestoppers partners with media and law enforcement
agencies in eight Middle Georgia
counties to provide anonymous rewards for tips that lead to arrests.
• Santa in the Park The Bibb County
Sheriff’s Of昀椀ce gives back to the community during Christmas by providing
free toys to less fortunate children between the ages of 4-15 years.
