Wig & Hair Topper Hair Buying Guide
GLOSSARY
Alternative hair: Any hair which is not
your own, including wigs, hair toppers,
hair extensions, etc.
Bio Hair: Bio hair refers to your
'biological hair', or the hair which
naturally grows out of your head.
Density: Refers to how 'thick' a wig or
hair topper is. Lusta Hair uses a
'medium to light' density for their hair
which is required to cover the cap
construction. Some brands may refer to
their density in terms of a percentage,
however, each company measures this
percentage differently. At Lusta, our
density is similar to a 120% density.
Lace-Front: Lace-fronts are most
commonly found on wigs. The lacefront gives the illusion of a realistic hair
line.
Remy hair: Remy hair is the minimum
standard for good quality human hair.
Remy hair is collected in ponytails so
that the cuticle of the hair all runs in the
same direction. Non-remy hair is
usually collected from salon floors and
therefore the cuticle isn't running the
same way.
Virgin hair: Virgin hair refers to hair
which has not been chemically
processed when collected.
European hair: European hair is a
marketing term used in place of highest
quality hair. This does not necessarily
mean the hair is sourced from Europe.
You may also find other similar
marketing terms such as 'brazillian hair'
or 'indian hair'. Again, these don't refer
to where the hair is sourced, but more
so the grade of hair quality.
Knots: The 'knots' are where the hair is
tied into the lace-front. The goal is for
the 'knots' to look like hair follicles which
are growing your hair. In order to
achieve this, the knots of the wig or
topper need to be bleached.
