professional to come with you to make sure your appeal
rights are maintained and that your rights in the
examination itself are not violated.

One thing that is very important to me is that you know
what your rights are before you communicate with the
IRS. Too many people do not know their rights and begin
speaking with the IRS without being made aware of what
their rights are.

Due process is the legal requirement that the IRS must
respect all legal rights that are owed to you. Due process
balances the power of the IRS and protects you - the
taxpayer - from the overreaching power of the IRS.
