End Your IRS Problems
Chapter 9: Why
Being Broke ( or
Almost Broke) is
a Good Thing!
Finding money to end your IRS problem is important...
but it’s not as important as using your current
financial condition to help yourself out of your IRS
problem.
Here’s the deal. The less money you have, the better
your bargaining position is with the IRS. Broke
taxpayers can get a great deal from the IRS to help
them end their IRS problem, and they can usually get a
better deal when they have the least amount of money.
What most taxpayers don’t realize is that being broke
while in trouble with the IRS gives them a great
negotiating position. The reason is simple: when
you’re broke, the IRS has to deal with the fact that you
have little to no money or assets.
You’ve likely seen this in your own life. For example:
imagine that one of your friends owes you $3,000 for
a personal loan you made them last year, and they
haven’t paid you a dime. So you call them up, and
they tell you they’re broke (wife lost her job, the kids
are sick -whatever). Now you know you’ve got a bad
loan on your hands. What can you possibly do to your
friend to make him pay? Sue him? Beg him? Take his
stuff?
