End Your IRS Problems
discussed earlier, the IRS is slow in getting around to
noticing that taxpayers are not filing.
Remember-it’s illegal and considered a criminal
offense, punishable by time in JAIL. Non-filing is
typically the first step down the slippery slope to
bigger IRS problems that go on for years.
If you walk away with just ONE GOOD IDEA from this
book, it should be that you must file your tax returns
on time -whether or not you have the money to pay
the taxes due. PA YING your taxes is not the same as
FILING your taxes. Do not confuse the two. Filing on
time will help you avoid criminal prosecution and also
force you to deal with any IRS problem right now.
Not Paying Future Taxes
The number one reason taxpayers have IRS problems is
because they didn’t pay some tax they owed, whether
individual, corporate or employment taxes.
If you want to avoid future IRS problems, you must
start paying as you go! “Pay As You Go” - If you are
employed and get a paycheck every few weeks ... be
sure your current tax withholding is enough to pay
this year’s taxes ... no exceptions!
If you don’t know how to figure this out, then find
a professional who does. It’s simple and takes only
seconds to figure out. Messing around with your
withholdings so that you get more take-home pay is
very popular.
Sure ... it gives you instant gratification. But it can
cause you to owe money to the IRS at the end of
the year. It doesn’t feel good to owe more money
in monthly bills than you bring home in monthly
pay. The only way to fix this problem is to cut some
monthly expenses so that you can live on what you
bring home.
The time to start doing this is today. Do not wait until
next month or next year. It’s amazing how you can
learn to get by on less money when you are forced to
do so.
