Smith’s world-class faculty are known for their teaching excellence. And
unlike at many business schools, these professors don’t just teach graduate
students. Many of Smith’s most accomplished scholars are in the classroom
with undergraduates.
“We’re very proud of the way we’ve 昀氀ipped the model,” says Dean Prabhudev
Konana. “It’s very unusual in public universities to have top research faculty
working directly with undergraduates.”
In spring 2024, 27 research faculty taught undergraduate classes, often
bringing decades of experience and scholarship to their lessons. Here are a few
of the remarkable researchers teaching undergrads:

Chair in Organizational
Behavior, teaches Cross-Cultural
Challenges in Business. Her
numerous honors include the
2023 International Association
for Con昀氀ict Management’s
Lifetime Achievement Award
for her research contributions.
Professor of Logistics, teaches
Intermodal Transportation.
He has been a leading researcher
and consultant on the subject for
nearly 50 years.

Gordon, creators of the longstanding Gordon-Loeb Model
that 昀椀rms use to optimize
information security investments.
Louiqa Raschid, Dean’s Professor
of Information Systems, teaches
Database Systems. Her many
National Science Foundationfunded projects have tackled
issues including COVID-19
supply chains and 昀椀ghting
future pandemics.
Roland Rust, a Distinguished
University Professor and the
David Bruce Smith Chair in
Marketing, teaches Marketing
Policies and Strategies.
A service marketing pioneer,
he is recognized as one of the
world’s most impactful business
researchers. His long list of
accolades includes numerous
lifetime achievement awards.
