Chief Development Officer
John Aronowitz is Smith’s new
chief development of昀椀cer. He joined
the school in January from the Iowa
State University Foundation.
He’ll work closely with Dean
Prabhudev Konana to
build support for strategic
funding priorities.

Smith, UMD Medical School
Offer Dual MD/MBA Degree
Smith School Launches Two
Advisory Boards in Asia
The University of Maryland’s School
of Medicine and the Smith School
created an MD/Flex MBA Dual
Degree program. Participants earn
a joint medical and business degree
in 昀椀ve years. Medical students
take business classes online or at
Smith’s College Park or Baltimore
campuses to learn fundamentals
like accounting, 昀椀nance and
management, plus analytical skills
for navigating medical technology
innovations and patient care.
Smith launched new advisory
boards in China and India to
strengthen strategy, recruiting
and placement efforts. The 15
China board members and 19
India board members will share
their knowledge of industry
trends and skills that companies
in those markets care most about.
Their insights will help shape
what students learn and widen
the pipeline for internship and
job opportunities.
