Blake + Barney
Faith
Faith the guinea pig came to us as
an owner surrender. In her previous
home, she had a bunny roommate
she was not terribly fond of, and
her owner knew she needed better
companionship. Faith spent a few
months with us, gaining con昀椀dence,
interacting with the kids at summer
camp, and making friends with the
fellow guinea pigs in our care. She really
blossomed during her stay at our
Healdsburg shelter and was ready for
her next adventure.
Cue Lauren and her sweet family!
They had a lovely young female
guinea pig at home who was eager to
have another piggy friend, and Lauren
had been on the lookout for another
single guinea pig. The family made the
trip up to Healdsburg and absolutely
fell in love with Faith’s gentle demeanor
and her love of bell peppers - they
knew she would be the perfect 昀椀t!
Being well-versed in guinea pig care,
we knew that Faith had 昀椀nally found
the perfect home!
Eli
Eli, a young terrier mix, arrived at
HSSC along with his brother Peyton.
Eli was the more reserved of the two
and would startle easily. Peyton found
his forever home right away, but Eli
had a couple test runs 昀椀rst. He was
adopted twice but returned when it
was discovered he wasn’t a great 昀椀t
for the families.
But then fate took an unexpected
turn... A special someone fell in love
with Eli just before embarking on a
trip to Madrid, knowing she couldn’t
adopt him at that time. She followed
Eli’s journey from afar and was
delighted when he was adopted.
However, upon her return, as she
checked our website, she was
astonished and thrilled to see Eli was
back at the shelter. It was as if the
stars had aligned perfectly for them.
Blake and Barney are two senior
gents who came to us as part of a
large group of cats who had been left
in crates in front of Solano County
Animal Services. Our friends at the
Solano shelter took great care of the
cats and then sent 14 of them to our
Healdsburg shelter! After all these
cats had been through, they were
understandably timid. It took a little
while for their individual personalities
to shine, but our Healdsburg sta昀昀
and volunteers welcomed them to
Kitty City (our Healdsburg shelter’s
communal cat room), and gave them
lots of quiet friendship and socialization.
Eventually, the cats began to feel
much more comfortable and 昀椀nd
forever homes. Blake and Barney
waited patiently for over 100 days
before Sean came in to meet them.
Sean has always had a soft spot in his
heart for older cats, but until recently,
he shared his life with a dog who
wasn’t a good 昀椀t with cats. After his
dog passed away, he spent some time
healing and felt the time was right to
open his home to a cat. He checked
out our website and was instantly
drawn to Blake and Barney. We are
pleased to report that these two
handsome brothers are now enjoying
the good life in a home where they
are treasured and adored!
Eli’s new mom believes that everything happens for a reason. If he
hadn’t been returned, she might
never have had the chance to bring
him into her life. Now, they make
the perfect family of two. Eli’s patient
mom is helping him overcome his
fears, showering him with countless
toys. He even has his own doggie
laptop so he can “zoom” in and hear
her calming voice!
When Eli has a bad dream, she
soothes him with stories. His favorite
tale is his own adoption story. His
heartwarming journey reminds us
that everything does indeed happen
for a reason. Here’s to a lifetime of
happiness, Eli!
