Purpose
The Office of Emergency Management works with the GW community to lead
GW in mitigating, preparing for, responding to and recovering from all hazards.
Services
EMeRG (GW EMS): A student-run EMS group that serves the Foggy Bottom and
Mount Vernon campuses.
GW Alert: Email alerts are sent to all students to provide updates on emergency
situations. To receive text alerts, add your mobile number to the portal.
Guardian App: An additional layer of security to GW Alert. This mobile
app provides emergency notifications and allows you to message GW’s
emergency service
Campus Advisories: Provides incident-related and non incident-related updates
to situations happening on and sometimes near campus.
Emergency Response Handbook: Actions to take if you find yourself in an
emergency situation when on campus.
GW Emergency Operations Plan: The plan describes how the university
responds to emergencies.

Personal preparedness is the best way to be ready in case of an
emergency. Have an emergency kit, know what numbers to call
and have a plan.
