Purpose
The George Washington University Police Department (GWPD) provides
residential hall security and patrol services to the Foggy Bottom and Mount
Vernon campuses and coordinates safety and security for a variety of oncampus special events. In addition to those roles and responsibilities, GWPD
provides crime prevention education to the GW community.
Services
Around-the-Clock Patrol Services: Officers take reports and engage with
students while on patrol and engage with students during campus events.
Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Class: A basic physical defense course
for women focuses on techniques in self-defense, highlights awareness,
prevention, risk reduction and avoidance.
Coffee with the Chief: Students have the opportunity to interact with the chief
and the department’s officers in a non-law enforcement capacity.
