Purpose
Student Employment is an option for students to work in an hourly wage parttime position. Positions include Federal Work-Study (FWS) positions with an oncampus department or approved off-campus organizations as well as Non-FWS
positions with an on-campus department. Working in a student employment
position during your college years can help you gain experiences and develop
skills for your future career.
Services
The Student Employment and the Center for Career Services Career Learning and
Experience teams can help students through applying, interviewing and getting
hired into a position.
FACT
Each year more than 4,200 student employees work in
200 departments on- or off-campus through the Federal
Work Study program
APPLY EARLY, APPLY A LOT
GW PRO-TIP
Apply to positions early, apply to multiple positions and use the
resources available to be successful in your position search. Most
positions are filled in the first month of the fall semester. First-year
students often wait and then have a challenging time finding a position.
