CCs are aresource for students living in the halls.Raise High! - GW’s rally cry that unites andencourages all students, alumni, faculty and staff tostrive for excellence■SA | Student Association - GW’s studentgovernment■Safe Ride - Provides a free and safe ride to/from Foggy Bottom campus residence halls andacademic buildings during late-night hours forstudents who prefer not to walk alone.■Square 80 - Green space area located betweenG and H streets and 21st and 22nd streetsrespectively.■TA | Teaching Assistant - Graduate orundergraduate students who help professors withgrading and teaching and hold their own officehours to help answer student questions.■The Vern | MVC - The Mount Vernon campus islocated in D.C.’s Foxhall neighborhood. The Vernas it is affectionately known houses about a third ofthe first-year population.■USC | University Student Center- The studentcentric building that houses student organizationmeeting space, the Student Health Center, GWorldOffice, Student Services Hub, the MSSC, Divisionfor Student Affairs, student rooms and diningoptions.■UserID - Your UserID starts with the letter Gfollowed by an eight-digit number. It is the ID thatyou’ll use to log into most GW resources.■U-Yard | University Yard - GW’s grassy quad on theFoggy Bottom campus.■Vern Express | Mount Vernon Express - The shuttlethat transports the GW community between theMount Vernon and Foggy Bottom campuses.■Vool - The pool located on the Mount Vernoncampus.■■■■CLRE - Short for Campus Living & ResidentialEducation. This is the team that manages theresidence halls and helps students createcommunity there.Gelbucks - This is what you get when you combineGelman Library with Starbucks. Why? The Starbucksis located on the ground floor of Gelman Library.GWorld | GWorld Card - Your official student ID. Itis used to tap into residence halls, swipe into thedining halls, and pay for laundry, printing and otheritems.GARMY - George’s Army, a.k.a. the student sectionat our sporting events (mainly basketball).■HelWell - Home base for campus recreation andfitness is the Lerner Health and Wellness Center,known colloquially as HelWell.■Hilltern - A student with an internship on CapitolHill.■Kogan - Kogan Plaza is often shortened to justKogan, as in “meet me in Kogan.” It’s the areaoutside of the Gelman Library, and our center ofFoggy Bottom campus.■LA | Learning Assistant - A learning assistant is anundergraduate student who works closely with theinstructor of a course to run small group sessionsin class and review sessions outside of class. Theydiffer from teaching assistants in that they don’tshare grading responsibility.19
