March 18 – Shamrock’n the Harbor 5K/12K
Don your best Irish and join in the fun! Both courses
take runners along the Cushman Trail toward the
Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The 12K course will take you
3/4 across the Bridge for a bird’s eye view of the
Narrows before circling back to make your way to the
finish line. 100% of the proceeds from the run benefit
the Gig Harbor Senior Center. GHSC provides regular
programs, activities and services to help our 60 plus
community remain active and thrive.
April 29 – 10th Annual THE GREEN GIG: Locally
Grown Dinner. Annually, The Green Gig™ provides the
community an opportunity to join in an evening of
heartwarming stories, and bidding for unique items
and experiences to help make
early childhood
education accessible to all families in our community,
all accompanied by a 100% farm-to-fork meal,
beverages, music, and fun - all while raising funds to
support early learning scholarships.
May 6 – The Community Table...
an evening against hunger. Funds raised through the
dinner event twill support The Community Table Fund,
an endowed fund established to provide important
financial resources to support community programs
that improve, promote and maximize opportunity for
special populations. Funds will be available to area
agencies working to address local hunger through a
grant process.
May 17 – 21st Annual Students of Distinction Award
Dinner. Each year the awards ceremony highlights the
accomplishments of graduating high school seniors from
the Peninsula School District. Students are nominated by
peers, teachers or parents, in one of seven categories for
extraordinary contributions to their field or mankind in
general.
July 8 – Summer Sips @ Uptown
Whether you’re into cider, beer, wine, spirits or softer
options, Summer Sips is the one-stop taste n’ shop event of
the summer. Let your taste buds run wild, with over 60
seasonal sips from the 253, to try. Proceeds support the Lu
Winsor Environmental Grant Fund which provides annual
grants to area schools and organizations in the KGI
watershed for projects focused on water quality,
environmental education, watershed health, conservation
and restoration activities.
September 24 – CIDER SWIG Festival
Join in celebrating the 10th anniversary! CIDER SWIG
combines our commitment to community and the
environment. Featuring over 130 PNW ciders, the festival highlights our region's
agricultural heritage, reinforces community friendships, promotes local
businesses, agricultural and environmental organizations, and showcases
regional talent throughout the day! Proceeds benefit the Lu Winsor
Environmental Grant Fund.
October 29 – Rattle Dem Bones: Halloween Bike Ride
Halloween-themed ride and costume contest for cyclists
of all ages and skill levels. Grab your friends, your
significant other, or round up the family and get out to
enjoy the crisp autumn air and lots of fun! Choose from
12, 22 or 35 mile rides. Proceeds benefit the Community
Recreation Fund, which helps to make participation in
sports and recreation programs a possibility for all youth
– regardless of a family’s ability to pay!
November 4 – INDULGE: a Sip & Savor Experience
Grab your friends and INDULGE as you sip, swirl and
savor away the evening. hyper-local experience, with
delicious local fare and libations, created by local makers,
restaurants, and their chefs. Proceeds benefit the Gig
Harbor Senior Center programs, services, scholarships,
and endowment.
November 21 & 22 – 30th Annual Gig Harbor
Basket Brigade. Over its history, the Brigade has
averaged about 1,300 packaged and delivered
Thanksgiving baskets annually. Each year, the familyfriendly Basket Brigade engages the community in a
two-day operation to put together baskets and deliver
them to local families in need and area military
families. Over 400 volunteers, and our amazing
sponsors, and donors help make it all happen!
