2019 marked the first Rattle Dem Bones Bike Ride and Costume Contest, which was held on the last weekend of October. The inaugural
event was partially sponsored by a Creative Endeavor grant awarded by the City of Gig Harbor's Arts Commission. The event combines
promotion of physical activity with a fun Halloween costume contest.
Participants have a choice of routes - from a family friendly ride along the Cushman Trail to a 36 mile "Monster Hill" Challenge ride.
Costumes and bike decorations are strongly encouraged and there are prizes for the most creative ensembles. To complete the party, there
is a post-ride celebration replete with live music, food and fun!
Proceeds from Rattle Dem Bones benefit the Community Recreation Fund, a managed field of interest fund that provides grants to area
sports and recreation programs to help make participation in sports and recreation programs a possibility for all youth – regardless of a
family’s ability to pay.
Applications are reviewed by on a rolling basis, as received. Awards from the 2022 cycle will be announced in early 2023.
