GGHF CURIOUS BY NATURE SCHOOL
OUR MISSION
To provide a premier early childhood environment to meet the
social, emotional, physical, creative and academic needs of your
child, while introducing them into a lifelong, meaningful
relationship with the natural world.
HOW CBNS IS DIFFERENT
GGHF Curious by Nature School is a unique, nature-based
program inspired by the child-centered Reggio Emilia
philosophy. Our curriculum is focused on teaching the whole
child; respecting their unique qualities and encouraging them to
be the best they can be.
Our child-driven emergent curriculum follows the nature-based
curriculum Growing Up WILD™, a program that builds on
children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to
explore wildlife and the environment.
In addition to our daily explorations in our outdoor classroom,
we take regular nature walks in the Adam Tallman Nature Park,
a protected wetland preserve maintained by the City of Gig
Harbor. Children are exposed daily to a wide variety of native
plant and animal habitats.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We believe that children are intrinsically motivated to learn. Our teaching staff promote
learning by:
Building a strong, supportive and nurturing relationship between teacher and child
Providing children a stimulating, exploratory environment where students learn
through play and a hands-on, self-discovery process that fosters their curiosity and
imagination
Encouraging divergent thinking and problem-solving
Allowing children to express themselves creatively
Assisting children in interactions with each other, offering opportunities for
cooperative learning and friendships
Appreciating the individuality of each child and celebrating their uniqueness
