BETTER WAYS TO CHANGE LIVES.
Our team continually seeks new opportunities to
serve our community.
In 2019, Goodwill Houston began operating a new pilot program,
funded by the Walmart Foundation through Goodwill Industries
International, GoodPaths. GoodPaths provided career navigation
services to Goodwill Team Members and other retail workers.
Under the local leadership of Katie Phoenix, GoodPaths was
completed by 369 team members and resulted in 171 promotions.
Through Katie’s leadership, Goodwill Houston achieved record
success through the GoodPaths program. In February, our
Houston Goodwill hosted representatives from Goodwills across
the country for a Learn & Lead Lab, creating a platform for
other Goodwills to plan to create similar programs in their home
regions. GoodPaths funding ended at the end of the year, but

the lessons learned from the program led us to understand the
significance of integrating workforce development services to our
employees. As a result, we have invested in creating GoodPaths
2.0 and Life-Work Connection programs to further serve our team
while meeting the needs of our growing workforce.
