IMPLICATIONS
From these challenges we conclude that disabled vets and their families need comprehensive
information and support, provided in a compassionate and respectful way. Individuals need
immediate remedies in some cases, capabilities to help with day-to-day needs in others, as well as
long-term help. Lastly, they need help beyond what is offered by their government agency or
organization. This is because what is offered them is viewed with skepticism, if it will be credible
support; or fear, not knowing if using what’s offered will tarnish their personal reputation or lead
to job termination. Forward Free’s approach is designed to address these challenges.
