Before the building of the railway,
Klondikers had to choose between
the Chilkoot Trail or the White Pass
Trail to make their way to the Yukon.
They were required to carry almost a
tonne of materials – enough food and
equipment to survive a year – which
meant each man had to make 20–30
trips along the trails.
