TO DENALI
DENALI NATIONAL PARK
Denali National Park is located 120 miles south of Fairbanks and 243 miles north of
Anchorage. Visitors arrive by private vehicle (car, RV or private shuttle), motorcoach or train.
Many people like to alternate modes of transportation between their arrival and departure. Learn more

VEHICLE
COMING FROM ANCHORAGE:
Plan to spend 5 to 7 hours driving north to Denali,
depending on traffic and road construction
(www.alaskanavigator.org). Allow additional
time for sightseeing, as there are numerous
opportunities to view Denali, should the weather
cooperate. Once you leave the Mat-Su Valley,
you’ll encounter long stretches
of highway without amenities, so make sure to
stop for gas or a restroom when you see one!
COMING FROM FAIRBANKS:
The drive south to Denali is usually 2 to 2.5 hours,
depending on traffic and road construction. The

TRAVEL
TRAIN
The Alaska Railroad connects Fairbanks and
Seward, and offers travel north- and southbound
daily during the summer months.
Multiple companies offer tours on the rail, but
regardless of who you book with, you’ll travel on
the same schedule and enjoy the same scenic views.
Make sure you check with your accommodation
provider, to see if it provides transportation to and
from the train station. Limited winter train service
is also available.
MOTORCOACH
The Park Connection is a motorcoach service
that provides daily service between Denali and
Seward, AK. Your reservation can be one-way or
round-trip, making this an excellent pairing for
people looking to experience rail service as part
of their vacation.
