When did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I used to have “pretend school” with my neighborhood
friends. I would always play the role of the teacher of
course, and I would pretend to get them in line like a class,
remind them to raise their hands if they wanted to speak
in class, and mostly nurture their feelings as my pretend
students. I had so much fun playing this role at an early
age that it became a major part of who I am not just as
an educator but as a human being. I'm forever taking the
lessons learned throughout life and applying them into
reality to become a better leader, and a better role model
for young children.
