The Summer GUIDE is Here!
– With fun things to do for everyone –
Summer has arrived in the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism! Whether you're
looking to explore new recreation offerings this season, splash around at our pools, immerse
yourself in the history of our area, or stretch those legs outdoors - we have something for you
and your family.
It’s the best time of year to explore the great outdoors with your family! If you love water, then
spend a day at GILBERT RUN PARK on the paddle boats or enjoy a guided kayak tour of the
GHOST FLEET AT MALLOWS BAY PARK. Our parks offer a wide array of trails and playgrounds
for those that prefer to keep their feet on the ground. Whichever you prefer, get outside and
enjoy some fresh air with your family this season!
Try your hand at one of our various DROP-IN PROGRAMS for youth, teens, and adults this
summer. Grab a friend and give PICKLEBALL a try or let your teen shoot some hoops with their
friends at one of our many drop-in basketball sessions. Pay per visit or use your RecPASS for
unlimited access!
The annual YOUTH TRIATHLON returns to the Donald M. Wade Aquatic Center in August. This
special event gives kids ages 17 and younger the chance to channel their inner triathlete and
swim, bike, and run on a course designed specifically for them. Register early to secure your
space and start your training now!
If our exciting line-up of programs and classes wasn't enough, our extensive SUMMER CAMP
offerings are bound to tick multiple boxes for you and your young ones during the summer break.
From day camps and nature camps to special needs and sports, we’ve got the right camp for
everyone. Camps are filling quickly, so don’t hesitate - register today!
We hope you find something that excites you and your family in this edition of The GUIDE and
can't wait to see you this summer at our parks, recreational centers, and historic sites.
Sincerely,
Kelli Beavers ,
CPRP, CPM
Director, Recreation, Parks, and Tourism
