Stormwater Drainage
Improvement Program
In early 2023, the Charles Count y
Commissioners approved a prioritized
list of more than 100 neighborhoods
for assistance through the Residential
Stormwater Drainage Improvement
Program. These neighborhoods are
e x p e r ie n cin g v a r y in g d eg re e s of
stormwater drainage issues on private
proper t y due to the increase in precipitation and ex treme weather events
that the Count y has been experiencing. Charles Count y Government has
begun the process of making the necessary repairs to privately-owned stormwater drainage conveyance systems, thereby improving the resilience of
these neighborhoods. The Count y has devoted approximately a third of the
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to this ef for t.
