In October 2022, CEF launched this 3-year initiative aimed at helping small
business owners get the capital they need to start, restart, or restructure a
business. This is a revolving loan fund which means when the loans are
paid back, the money is redirected to capitalize new loans, maintaining a
continuous cycle of impact. CEF was one of eight mission-based lenders
selected to administer the program with OEDIT providing the initial
funding. CEF was awarded over $10 million and as of the end of our FY23,
$4.8 million has already been disbursed.
This fund also has a grant component for startup businesses that have
been in operation for 2 years or less and have been approved for a loan.
These grants have certain criteria and while not everyone qualifies, those
that receive the grants do not have to repay these amounts. CEF has
awarded 58 grants for $348,000.
