The history of Brothers in Blue Reentry begins with
Inner-Change Freedom Initiative (IFI) of Kansas, a
branch operating under the national organization
known as Prison Fellowship.
IFI Kansas launched in 2000 and provided valuesbased services that reflected the life and teachings
of Jesus. Unfortunately, budget cuts eventually led
to Prison Fellowship terminating the Kansas
branch of IFI. Mentors and volunteers who had
been serving with IFI knew there was too much
value to the life-changing work they were doing to
allow the gap in services to remain unfilled, so
Brothers in Blue Reentry was launched in September
of 2011.
Brothers in Blue Reentry is entering its tenth year of
operation at Lansing Correctional Facility in Lansing,
Kansas.
In 2017, Brothers in Blue Reentry took bold steps to
expand the capacity and effectiveness of our inprison services. We brought on a new executive
team to lead us into evidence-based, proven
models that focus on treating key criminogenic
needs.
As a result of our shift in leadership and focus, our
core curriculum has changed to incorporate
evidence-based models to address issues such as
Criminal and Addictive Thinking, Release and
Reintegration, Drug and Alcohol Addiction, Relapse
Prevention, Financial Readiness, Employment
Preparation, Life Skills Development, and Spiritual
Growth.
