BIBR - Brothers in Blue Reentry
BIBR is our original program, the men's program, which began under the BIBR heading in
2011 and now serves hundreds of men each year both inside and outside the prison.
The vision for the men's program is to serve incarcerated men in all Kansas Department of
Corrections facilities with our life-changing, evidence-based curriculum and counseling.
LEAD - Ladies Empowered and Driven
The LEAD program is the sister program to BIBR and operates in the Topeka
Correctional Facility, the only state prison for women in Kansas.
The LEAD program launched early in 2020 and mimics the BIBR program. The
curriculum has been modified to best meet the unique needs of incarcerated
women.
LEAD is currently serving its first class of 10 women with a goal of adding an
additional cohort of 10 – 15 women later in 2021.
Unbound Books
Unbound Books was also added under the BIBR umbrella in 2020. Unbound
acquires new, publisher’s excess books to help supply the underfunded prison
libraries in Kansas prisons with quality reading materials.
To date, Unbound Books has provided Topeka Correctional Facility with 78 books to
supplement its current library and an additional 300 books to build a smaller
library in a segregated wing of the prison.
The goal of Unbound Books is to provide a steady supply of quality books to all
Kansas prisons to ensure adequate library services for all who are incarcerated in
the state of Kansas.
