TRUE BLUE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT: DANIEL MEAD
Major: Radiologic Sciences
College: College of Health Sciences | Hometown: Boise, Idaho
Daniel Mead spent his teen years in and out of clinics as his father received
treatment for Graves’ disease, inspiring him to work in healthcare and
become a figure of leadership and change within his field. His encounter with
a Boise State guest speaker at the Dennis Technical Education Center while
working on his EMT certification led him to become the first in his family to
pursue a college degree. Now, he’s on track to complete his bachelor of science in radiology.
Mead, who builds computers in his free time, has found his niche in the convergence of technology and
human health. It’s in intersections like these that Mead sees the potential for expanding the reach of
healthcare, and, with his degree, hopes to guide his field to a future that is accessible and collaborative.
“It’s the little things,” Mead said. “Without the True Blue, I would have had to take out loans.
Without it, I would have had to work more. Getting the time to be a kid in college is nice.”
