THE FUTURE OF FOOD
Conclusion
Indeed, this is an unprecedented time for us as we continue to adapt to the
unpredictable changes in the short and long term. That said, change is a constant in
any business, and while COVID has accelerated change, much of what we are
confronting are changes for the better for both the operator and customer.
It also doesn’t hinder the fact that this wave of turmoil has caused a great deal of loss.
The many closings we see are a reminder that the restaurant hospitality sector is likely
to be permanently altered by the pandemic.
But this industry is a remarkably resilient and resourceful group, supporting of each other
and determined to come back stronger than ever. Let’s continue to take heart in the
knowledge that ultimately the public is looking for ways to continue to engage and support
their favorite restaurants.
Being social and gathering to break bread is an essential human characteristic.
Restaurants will and are coming back. And when the dust settles, the public will be at the
door, even if what awaits inside may look a little different.
