Bergmeyer Housing Introduction - Flipbook - Page 10
Multi-Family Architecture
The concept for 74 Main Street in Durham, New Hampshire evolved as
the partners behind the project realized the site’s enormous potential for
establishing a multi-use building with a restaurant, housing, offices, and a
new home for the civically-focused Democracy House under its roof.
Through a trusted relationship, Bergmeyer was brought on board to guide
the owners through the process of visualizing, strategizing, and executing
a building design of this magnitude.
Innovation and efficiency were two of the main components behind the
design. The construction of the building consists of both modular and
custmized design components, including the use of sustainable, prefabricated cross-laminated timber (CLT). Currently, 74 Main Street stands
to be one of the tallest CLT-constructed buildings in New England.
