Bergmeyer West organized an LA River cleanup volunteer group, collaborating with AIA Los Angeles and the Friends of the LA River (FOLAR, https://folar.org). FOLAR
organizes monthly cleanup efforts from March through April annually; 2022's volunteer work was done on Earth Day in April. Bergmeyer's volunteers literally got their hands
dirty this year by creating seed bombs for activating the waterfront. The team also learned about the river's history and future plans, and how surrounding bioswales and
retention ponds help control pollution runoff into the river system.
