Westville Boys High. The event included an uplifting speech from Braydon, uplifting speeches from his Grade 12
peers who helped him facilitate the program, and a motivational speech by PeacePlayers Fellow, Douglas Nedab.
The event was capped off with a Westville war cry from all the students in attendance. This was an official final
assembly for all Grade 9 young men, typically reserved for matric, Grade 12 students. Braydon's final departing act
for The Corridor project was an organised stationery drive. When asked what inspired this initiative, Bradyon says
"The Corridor raised money to donate 100 stationery packs and necessities any student may need to study and
learn to Ukhukhanya Kwelanga Primary in September 2022, just in time for exams. The initiative aimed not only to
equip students with the tools necessary to learn, but also aimed to integrate two schools separated by no more than
3 kilometers. Two schools that have never interacted before."
A few PeacePlayers representatives attended the assembly initiated by Braydon, at Westville’s Multi-Purpose
Center. The PeacePlayers team wanted to support him and recognize the hard work he had put in. They witnessed
a globally connected initiative (Leadership Development Programme, trickle down and have an impact within
a school where direct programming wasn’t yet being offered, which was powerful. LDP Coordinator Thobani
Ngubane jokingly called Braydon his “protege” because of the similarities in their journey - Thobani leading
PeacePlayers LDP team, then Braydon leading The Corridor project’s young men beyond his LDP experience.
Braydon has since matriculated from Westville Boys High School. He set up the Corridor project to be sustained
beyond his time at the school. The Corridor project has committees with leads and subcommittees to keep the
programme up to par with its original vision.
Braydon is now established as a bona fide leader with huge aspirations. Braydon is concluding his fellowship in
Northern Ireland and transitioning his focus on studying business centric studies and innovation management.
He dreams of uplifting his community by utilising the learnings from his experiences inside and outside the
classroom. He credits PeacePlayers for giving him "the keys of wisdom, resources, and experiences that trumps
what any book can teach, allowing those doors of dreams to be opened" Braydon adds. Braydon is proud to be a
PeacePlayer and wishes that everyone could get an opportunity to enjoy the experience he has had these past
few years.
