THANK YOU FUNDERS
Embedded in this collection of stories are the myriad relationships PPSA has had with visionary individuals,
schools, grassroots organisations, and donor partners. Without our partners there would be no adventure, no lives
touched and transformed and no incredible moments of hope in our 20 years of work in South Africa.
Early community partnerships were with schools such as Clifton Primary and Glenwood Primary, to schools in the
Durban City, Umlazi, Molweni, Glenwood and Morningside. It is the willingness of these collaborating partners to
work with us and embrace our programming that gives our work traction and moves us forward.
We are profoundly grateful to our donors and wish to give recognition to the Nelson Mandela's Children Fund,
as well as Sasol, Engen, and 3M. In more recent years, we are proud to have had funding through the National
Lotteries Fund, AT&T , the Victor Daitz Foundation, as well as support from the Department of Sports, Arts, &
Culture. Since our inception in 2001, The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation has provided both funding support
and capacity building, and we deeply value this ongoing relationship and the impact it brings.
Through 34 City Wide Tournaments, Girls Festivals, and 2022's global Friendship Games which was held in the
Middle East, to the ongoing PPSA programming that changes the trajectory of children’s lives, it is our
collaborating and donor partners that make change possible.
This quote captures our gratitude through the eyes of just one of our thousands of participants, Mipilonhle Dube:
“Growing up in Molweni was hard back then, and even now, it is still a tough place to live because of so many
people doing drugs and involving themselves in crime and violence. I don’t know what I’d be doing now if I didn’t
join basketball when Sifiso and Sanele [PeacePlayers Coaches] came to my school, Ukukhanya Kwe-Africa Primary.
Every medal, basketball memory, and team I played for is because of them.”
