COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS, GLOBALLY
For the Friendship Games, PeacePlayers was honored to host Brittanee Oakley from Inner City Education Foundation
(ICEF), one of PeacePlayers Los Angeles’ key community partners. For Brittanee, the Friendship Games was a powerful
experience, both on a personal level, and with regard to the PeacePlayers-ICEF partnership:
“I am much more appreciative of PeacePlayers as a whole. I was already just blown away, but just to know that you guys
are just spread out all across the globe and bringing all these kids together, shifted my purpose, too, because I started to
understand more that there’s a bigger world outside of just L.A... The joy was just seeing the kids, to see them on that last day
or last couple of days and, you know, you see tears and kids that are kind of crying. I don’t know how anybody could see that
and not want to do it again and again and again and again, or something like it over and over.
IT WAS LIKE, LOOK, IF I’M NOT AT FRIENDSHIP GAMES EVERY YEAR, I’M GOING TO CREATE SOMETHING LIKE IT, OR I WANT TO BE SOMEONE
THAT BRINGS SOMEONE TO PEACEPLAYERS. THAT’S JUST KIND OF WHAT THE GAMES DID FOR ME. IT WAS JUST LIKE,
OKAY, I WANT TO HELP KEEP PEACEPLAYERS GOING.”
