2020 Archdiocese of Atlanta Employee Policy Manual/September 2020 - Manual / Resource - Page 70
Occurrence of Symptoms
During the workday, if an employee begins to feel ill and exhibit any of the symptoms of illness,
especially a fever, a changing cough or difficulty breathing, the employee should immediately
notify his/her supervisor that he/she is not feeling well, but does not need to disclose the
symptoms that are being experienced. The employee should leave work immediately while
wearing a face covering until off property. The employee will be paid for the full day of work.
Workplace Modifications
The following adaptations will be made at chancery to safeguard employee health until the health
emergency is over:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Avoid having visitors come to the chancery or local business office and utilize
teleconferencing or other remote communication methods whenever possible. All visitors
will be screened in the front lobby/entrance by answering the same questions that are part
of the Employee Self Screening procedure. If admitted, visitors will be given face coverings
to wear while in the building.
Chairs in foyers, offices and meeting rooms at least six feet apart.
Prop open doors when possible to reduce the need to use doorknobs and to improve
airflow.
Maintain social distancing while greeting people and extend hospitality verbally instead of
by shaking hands.
If you must have an in person meeting, consider meeting outside (weather permitting) or in
the largest room possible, with the doors open. Also consider limited the length of the
meeting. The longer one is exposed to someone who is contagious, the greater likelihood
the disease will spread even with proper distancing and masking.
Do not eat meals together inside breakrooms, bistro, or meeting/conference rooms. Social
distancing is not a substitute for proper and consistent use of masks. Eating meals inside
even while six feet apart is a very high risk activity and should be avoided. Meals may be
taken together outside, provided proper social distancing of at least six feet is maintained.
Quarantine Protocol for the Novel Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) (revised January 2022)
It is the policy of the Archdiocese to maintain consistency with the CDC. As information is
regularly changing, for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding quarantine
protocols, employees are expected to follow CDC guidelines.
Employees are expected to immediately report to their immediate supervisor if they have been
exposed, are experiencing symptoms, OR have had close contact with a positive case.
If you are exhibiting even mild symptoms, it is recommended that you be tested. If you believe
you have been exposed or have been called by contact tracers, you should get tested whether you
currently have symptoms or not. The ideal time period for testing if you are not symptomatic is
within 5-7 days of exposure. Testing prior to that carries a higher risk of a false negative. If you
are symptomatic, get tested as soon as possible.
