2021 WINS FOR THE MERIT SHOP
Chapter, Member, Partnerships and Student Accomplishments
• Started the new year by hosting our
2021 Coffee, Construction and Conversation
Series focusing on understanding the needs
of employees with various backgrounds and
needs.
• Provided members a virtual Meet the
Associate with The Blue Book Construction
Network, committed to providing information
and connections needed to simplify the
commercial construction process and
advance the industry across the nation.
JAN
• Excellence in Construction began!
• The Young Professionals hosted a
Front-end planning & Project take-off
workshop for members.
• Completion of Community Builders
all-female training cohort in partnership
with Project H.O.O.D with 15 graduates.
• Hosted first-ever and hopefully last
(due to COVID) virtual Member Awards and
Graduation Gala recognizing the best of the
best in construction and congratulating our
graduates for their commitment to being
the next generation of construction leaders.
• Thirty-one apprentices and craft trainees
graduated with their journeyman’s card.
• Provided members a combined virtual
Meet the Members event with Phoenix
Builders & Connexion.
FEB
• Provided a networking event at the
ABCIL Office & Training Center in Elk Grove
Village for members to engage in
meaningful conversations about their
successes and challenges throughout the
2021 construction season.
• ABC staff attended the Blue Book
Construction Network’s annual Showcase.
• ABCIL President attended Representative
Will Davis Golf Outing, he is a true
advocate for ABC’s workforce development
initiatives.
• So far in 2021 over 400 attended virtual
career orientations, first step to enter the
Learn Your Trade Training Program.
• Awarded a Superior Contractor Percentage
award by ABC National, the chapters
contractor percentage exceeds 80%.

AUG
• First annual Legal Series to keep
members informed & empowered as they
build our state and nation.
• In partnership with Project H.O.O.D & in
recognition of Women’s History Month our
Community Builders program conducted the
first ALL FEMALE electrical training cohort.
• Our Young Professionals hosted a
workshop on “How to Network” & walked
away with tips & trends to stay in touch
with and meet prospective clients &
partners.
MAR
• The annual Red, White and Birdie
Golf Outing was a success with record
breaking attendance – something about
connecting contractors and helping them
build their network of qualified contractors.
• Prevented anti - merit shop legislation
from passing at local level in the City of
Moline.
