MESSAGE FROM
DEAN KAHN

uch like our class of 2024, who recently completed their
undergraduate medical education and are now moving
onto their residency training program, the Kirk Kerkorian
School of Medicine at UNLV is also shifting into the next
stage of our evolution and becoming a transformational
force for improving healthcare in Nevada.
Growth is the key to our success and fulolling our mission of serving our
patients, students, medical professionals, and community. Since April 1,
2020, the year I began my tenure as dean, we have successfully hired 188
new employees, and our recruitment efforts are not slowing down. Thanks
to the support of the Nevada Legislature, Senate Bill 457, and Governor
Joe Lombardo, we are actively recruiting and hiring the additional faculty
and staff needed to increase enrollment to 90 new students per year, a 37
percent increase.
Still, hiring alone is not enough. To truly care for the community, we are
committed to strengthening and expanding our community partnerships,
developing an academic health center with our UNLV health science
colleagues and clinical partners, and collaborating with the only other
allopathic medical school in state, the University of Nevada, Reno School
of Medicine, to improve healthcare for all Nevadans.

These are exciting times for the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, the
Las Vegas community, and the state. I am excited to celebrate our 10-year
anniversary this summer and I am looking forward to all of our successes
in the coming decade.
