community through the school9s associated clinical practice, UNLV
Health, and community hospital partners like the University Medical
Center of Southern Nevada (UMC).
As of December 2023, the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine faculty
had 23 active awards, amounting to $22.6 million and, in the orst half
of the 2024 oscal year, 16 grants have been awarded to the school
totaling over $6 million. Along with new grants, there are also 12 clinical
trials currently active and eight more being evaluated.
Growth and expansion are a top priority as the school journeys into
the next decade. Faculty and staff hires are only a part of the story,
as previously stated, the school is planning to grow its medical

As the school quickly approaches the 10-year anniversary of its
establishment and prepares to welcome its eighth cohort of medical
students, there is no slowing down.
The school is in full growth mode, focused on educating physicians
and developing and expanding the programs that will bring and
create more primary, specialty, and subspecialty care practitioners
to support the growing population of Nevada. Faculty and staff hires
are impact multipliers, bringing additional primary and specialty care
physicians to actively provide care to the community, educate and
train the school9s medical students, residents and fellows, and develop
them into expertly trained, patient-centered physicians.
