UNITED FRONT
Funded Partners Meetings
We recently hosted two meetings with our
community non-profit partners, an opportunity for
us to connect and discuss our joint efforts in battling
poverty. Here are a few of the comments and
observations heard during our discussion:
We are all trying to meet needs that far exceed
our capacity. We are trying to meet the demand
while the goal posts are being moved. Needs are
increasing exponentially with no increase in
resources to meet those needs.
The mental health of our over-worked sector is in
question. The sector is in crisis!
United Way grants provide more flexibility than
the majority of grants out there, allowing us to
focus on missions and delivering programs and
services
The current parameters of what is affordable
housing is no longer relevant, developers aren9t
producing units that are truly affordable. That9s
where the non-profit sector comes in….
People need to know that Ontario Works (OW)
only pays $733, and $400 of that is deducted if
you don9t have a permanent address.
These issues are Human Rights Issues!
With your support, we
are sustaining the
current network of
services and advocating
for the big changes that
need to happen.
When you invest in
United Way, you are
investing in ending
poverty in our
community.
