THE FACES OF OUR COMMUNITY
The portraits and stories in this publication were captured between the spring
of 2019 and fall of 2021. Each story represents a brief moment in time. A day in
the life of this vibrant cross-section of our community. Stories told in times that
were anything but ordinary. Years marked not just by the events of their individual
lives but also tremendous change for the community—unprecedented growth,
devastating tornadoes and an ongoing global pandemic.
The faces and stories shared here are worth more than any number of statistics
or reports we, as United Way of Greater Nashville, could share. These are the real
people—the mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, neighbors, colleagues
and friends—who make up our community. Because behind all the campaigns,
processes and outcomes, what we’re really in the business of is changing lives.
