Helping our neighbors stay
in their homes and keep
food on the table. Through the
COVID-19 Response Fund, as well
as the administration of CARES
Act funding, we were able to
help our neighbors survive this
unprecedented worldwide crisis.
Grants ensured that nonprofits
could help individuals who lost
their jobs or experienced lost
wages by helping with rent,
mortgage and utilities. The
funds also provided essential
services and support across the
community—from mental health
services to personal protective
equipment to child care services
for essential workers.
Joining forces with local
partner agencies and
supporting government
response efforts. United
Way also joined up with
Voluntary Organizations
Active in Disaster (VOAD), a
coalition of local nonprofit
and private organizations, to
ensure a coordinated, effective
community response in times
of disaster. We worked sideby-side with the Office of
Emergency Management and
the Mayor’s Office to share
information, identify critical
needs and organize response
efforts immediately following the
explosion.
