Duncan & Nikki
Our loyal landlord and landlady at the
Dog & Fox in wonderful Wimbledon village.
Duncan has been in the pub and restaurant game since his early
twenties and ran various establishments around Yorkshire. His wife
Nikki joined him behind the bar when they made the big move
to London from Hull, where they both hail from. They’ve run the
Dog & Fox since April 2023, but it’s not their 昀椀rst time here; they
also held the reins back in 2008 when they originally joined Young’s
(they’re real past masters).
Wimbledon Village has been the couple’s home for about 12 years,
and they’re happily settled in. They now have three children, three
grandchildren, and some fantastic neighbours and regulars who feel
like family. And they love that there’s so much to do in the area.
On days off, they can easily pop into London or head down to
the coast with the grandkids.
They also love that the Dog & Fox boasts such a great history.
The pub was once called the Fox & Dog (we don’t know why
the fox got a demotion). And it was also one of the legendary
‘Wimbledon Eight’ – which is the name of Oliver Reed’s
infamous pub crawl.
Duncan and Nikki are super-chuffed with their pub’s new
refurb. They especially like that it’s brought back a sense of
the pub’s past glory, with its classic heritage colours, leather
armchairs and traditional-style bar. It has a really warm and
homely feel, and the feedback from their guests and locals
has been wonderful. They all say it puts the pub back where
it belongs at the very heart of the village.
