READ & REFLECT! Listen & Learn with Jesus, the Word!
Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, went teaching in the synagogues. One day he
unrolled the scroll of the prophet Isaiah, and read out loud: “The spirit of the
Lord has been given to me. He has sent me to bring the good news to the poor,
to heal the broken hearted and set free all those who are oppressed.” Then
Jesus said, “What you have just heard is coming true today.”

GOOD NEWS
“The Good News always remains
the same: Jesus has risen!”
Pope Benedict XVI
We all like to hear good news. Ask your child when they last heard
some good news. What is the best news that they’ve ever received?
When did any of the family last give someone good news and
what was it? Ask your child which people have recently brought
Jesus’ Good News to them at home, at school or in the parish.

Jesus is alive – he is with us and he wants us to share this Good News
with others through our everyday words and actions. How can
we be ‘Good News’ to people in this coming week? Perhaps we
can: be welcoming – offering friendship and hospitality to any new
people in our community; help to relieve poverty and injustice,
at home and abroad; say a special bedtime prayer tonight
for all those who regularly share the Good News with others.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for bringing good news to my family and the world.
Please help us to be ‘Good News’ to everyone we meet this week. Amen.

Today, through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus is still with us!
Jesus wants us to demonstrate our faith in God through showing
love, kindness and forgiveness in our everyday words and actions.
Let’s do our best to be ‘Good News’ to everyone we meet.
