EXPERT VIEW
We know how busy FMs are in the industry today, juggling
many priorities, but health and safety training – including
showing employees how to identify and report hazards –
must not be deprioritised.
Thorough training needs to be delivered and revisited
regularly, especially in facilities with a high turnover of
staff or where new groups are brought in to support during
busy periods of the year who will be unfamiliar with its
practices and processes. Putting up signs around the
facility to help employees identify common problem areas
can be a helpful reminder too.
For example, a sign to show you where wet 昀氀oor signs
and cleaning supplies are stored in an area where liquid
spills are more common. These approaches should always
be supported with access to more detailed information
sources that employees can refer to as and when they are
needed though.
