What type of
ceremony is for you?
We are here to help you celebrate
your love, but you can do that in
lots of different ways.
A civil marriage or a civil partnership is
available to all couples. It is also the only
legal alternative to a religious marriage.
For a civil marriage or civil partnership
to be legal, it must take place in any Register
Office in England and Wales, or in a licensed
venue, indoors or outdoors, and be conducted
by a registrar from that district. As long as
your ceremony includes the legally prescribed
vows and no religious content, we welcome
you personalising your ceremony as you
wish, with personal vows, readings, poems,
music or other individual elements.
With around 30 registrars in the Royal
Borough, and history dating back to 1837,
there is very little we can’t help with when it
comes to getting you married or civil partnered!
