Recent Graduate Engagement
If an Associate is yet to secure a graduate role by the time they graduate, they continue to have
access to upReach resources and events and receive application support for our partner
employers for a full year post-graduation. Many of the 2019 graduates benefitted from multiple
interventions in the year after they graduated. And, as was highlighted in Application Successes
(p13), 55 upReach Alumni gained graduate offers in the first year after having left university

“I’ve been a Data Scientist at Czarnikow Ltd since September 2020. I
owe my Programme Coordinator everything for her consistent support
- by this time, my ego was already battered by months of intense,
frustrating job-hunting.

After graduating, I interned in Beijing through the British Council,
naively reliant on a strategy consulting offer that fell through in January
2020. On return, I dove into applications. My PC supported me with
mock interviews, CV and application reviews, and signposted me to
video forums. I also took the time to learn coding for the first time,
through a ‘Code First Girls’ course
After mentioning my new tech skills, my PC signposted tech roles at
upReach partners. I wasn’t confident enough in my skills for most of
them, but Czarnikow placed more emphasis on my willingness to learn.
Their Data Science internship was exclusive to upReach Associates and we were fast-tracked to
interviews, which I practiced with my PC. I went in calmer and more confident than I had been for
any other interview previously. A few of us now at Czarnikow have upReach roots, and we are all
tangibly contributing to innovation in the friendly, driven company culture. As always, I’m eternally
grateful to upReach for getting me here!
