Insight Days
Insight Days are hosted by our partner employers and offer a
detailed insight into what it would be like to work for that
company. Associates learn about company culture, work
opportunities and application processes through presentations
and networking.
There were 425 attendances at Insight Days by 200 of the
2019 graduates.

When you haven’t grown up around people working in top professions
it can be difficult to choose a career to pursue. You don’t have a network
of people you can ask about jobs, and have to rely on what you read or
is in the media. When I joined the upReach programme I had no real
idea what I wanted to do as a career. My Programme Coordinator took
the time to understand what I was passionate about and encouraged
me to broaden my horizons and explore careers that tap into this
passion, that I might never have considered otherwise.
The programme allowed me to attend a number of Insight Days and
learn about different employers and professions, some of which I’d

never heard of at that point. I was able to learn about organisations
within several sectors from the public sector, to professional services to
Civil Service Fast Stream
investment banks, the roles available and the skills they are looking for.
More importantly, I had the opportunity to see and speak to professionals, many of whom from a
similar background as myself working in these top professions. This experience was invaluable as it
allowed me to expand my network and gave me the confidence to apply for top grad schemes
because I could see people I relate to in the positions I hoped to be in.
Ultimately, I decided to pursue a career with the Civil Service and have really enjoyed my time here
so far.
