BALMORAL SHOW
Ulster Bank putting food and
drinks companies on the map
P
RINCIPAL sponsor of the Balmoral
Show, Ulster Bank, has announced
details of a new Food Trail coming
to the show this year.
Eight leading food and drinks
companies, including White’s Oats and
Thompson’s Teas, have signed up to the
initiative which will encourage show
visitors to tour the site and engage with
Ulster Bank customers exhibiting their
produce at the show.
Participants can collect stamps from
each of the exhibitors listed on the Food
Trail map which can be collected from
the Ulster Bank marquee, where the Food
Trail begins. Once all stamps have been
collected, completed forms should be
returned to Ulster Bank for a chance to win
a daily hamper, featuring some of Northern
Ireland’s award-winning food and drink
produce.
At the end of the four days, one entrant
will be selected as the grand prize winner
and taken to lunch by leading food and
restaurant critic Joris Minne and given the
chance to input into one of his reviews.
Nigel Walsh, Commercial Director with
Ulster Bank, said the Food Trail would
allow the bank to showcase its strong
selection of customers exhibiting at the
n Catherine Finnegan, The Fluffy Meringue
Balmoral Show.
“Each year we are seeing more and more
of our customers exhibiting at the Show
and we wanted to help drive visitors to
their stands and recognise the exceptional
standards of Northern Ireland’s homegrown food and drink industry. Our
overarching message at the show this year
is that we are proud to be an ingredient in
our customers’ success so it is fitting that
we encourage people to visit the Food NI
pavilion and sample the fantastic range of
products they have to offer.”

Miller family has been farming land in the Roe Valley for several
generations and today, they are the largest producer of onions in
Northern Ireland.
Rhonda Geary, Operations Director with
the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society,
said it was important not to overlook the
important role food and drink plays at the
show.
“Over the last few years, the presence
of food and drinks companies at Balmoral
has grown exponentially and the Food NI
Pavilion remains one of our most popular
attractions on site. We are excited to
partner with Ulster Bank to endorse the
first ever Food Trail at the show and hope it
gives visitors the chance to experience the
true taste of Balmoral.”
The Ulster Bank Food Trail will run during
show opening hours from Wednesday to
Friday and close at 2.30pm on Saturday,
May 18, with the winner announced on
Saturday evening. The trail begins at the
Ulster Bank marquee and completed entry
forms should be returned there each day.
