Hello, and welcome to our first
edition, bringing you the latest
news, views and hot topics
from the healthcare, surgical
and hospitality industries.
It’s been a turbulent couple of years, with
hospitals under increased pressure and
hospitality venues forced to close their doors.
However, as we emerge from the Coronavirus
pandemic, life in the UK is starting to return
to some degree of normality. Hotels and
restaurants are once more welcoming
guests, and healthcare facilities are seeing
the return of services such as elective surgery.
This period of uncertainty has undoubtedly
reinforced the need for us all to become more
sustainable. The recently published report
from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate
Change warned that the world is not shifting
quickly enough to a low-carbon economy,
and it is clear that a far more concerted effort
is needed between businesses and partner
organisations if we are to realise ambitions of
a more sustainable future.
In this issue, we discuss how we’ve been
selected from 80,000 suppliers as one of
12 major brands to sit on the NHS Net Zero
International Leadership Group, which aims to
help the organisation achieve net zero for direct
emissions by 2040 and net zero by 2045 for
supply chain emissions. You can also learn more
about the role reusable surgical textiles have
to play in the transition to a circular economy.
In addition, we catch up with Professor
Mahmood Bhutta to talk about some of the
potential issues and challenges on the road
to zero carbon.
As a business we’re celebrating a number
of contract wins and retentions across all
sectors, and we round-up some of our latest
successes on the following pages. We also

at the hospitality and wellness industry.
