These incredible individuals count on our supportto help meet their needs and that of their patients.We have invested£24kto keep five new Smart Fridgesstocked for the first yearwith healthy andvaried meals.Lightening the loadWith the rising cost of living, every penny saved makesa difference and King’s College Hospital Charity is proudto have invested £45,000 in the Blue Light Cards scheme.Card holders are entitled to a wide range of discountsand benefits, including valuable savings on householditems and clothing, and even outings and entertainment.Building on their previous support for our hugelypopular staff Wellbeing Hub, funding from NHS CharitiesTogether in 2022/23 meant we were able to provideFruitful Boxes to busy staff throughout the year.“We are constantly looking at ways of making life thatlittle bit easier for staff,” says Laura Duffell, Health andWellbeing lead at the Trust. "So, each week, the WellbeingHub manager sends Fruitful Boxes to those busy wards sothat staff, especially those on night shifts, have easy accessto fresh fruit."The installation of five Smart Fridges means hospitalstaff have round-the-clock access to affordable,nutritious food. Meals are competitively priced and caterfor a wide range of dietary requirements, so staff donot have to resort to unhealthy snacks from a vendingmachine.Thanks to funding from the Kusuma Trust we arealso developing a separate Retreat space where staffcan access confidential one-to-one support for theirwellbeing.The fridge helpedme during those timeswhen I am too tired to walkand buy food.
